About Our Founder

John Wilson is the founder and CEO of Light the Way Ministry, an organization that produces Christian concerts, festivals, and events that have shared the gospel with more than 100,000 people across the country.

John’s story didn’t start in ministry, but in the bars and nightclubs of small-town America. Growing up feeling isolated and insignificant, he sought escape in partying, drug use, and gambling. But even in the chaos, John developed a relentless work ethic, taking on any job necessary to stay afloat. Eventually, he found his calling in promoting country music, booking shows in bars and honky-tonks across the region. He built a life, fell in love, became a husband and father, bought a home, and carved out a career in an industry he understood.

But everything changed the night John gave his life to Jesus.

In that moment, God gave him a vision: take the gift he’d been using to fill nightclubs and use it to take the church outside the walls. That vision became Light the Way Ministry. What started as tent revivals and small outdoor events has grown into premier Christian music festivals and concerts featuring chart-topping artists.

Through Light the Way, thousands of people – many who would never step foot in a traditional church – have encountered Jesus, made decisions for Christ, and been baptized.
